Muslim School Of Manner

The Muslim School Of Manner

This school is an important institution in the neighbourhood where I lived in 2016. It was located just across the street from Uncle Kenneth's apartment. Every morning I would drink tea on the balcony and see these kids coming and going from school. After meeting the children and teachers on the street and interacting with them on a daily basis, I knew that documenting this part of the community was an important story from my time in Ghana.

There are over 160 students, ranging in age from 6-16, that travel from across the city of Kumasi to attend. The students go to school 7 days a week and on Sundays, they study their religion and religious texts. The teacher, Ayoub Asoum, originally from Burkina Faso, had come to Ghana to teach.
